Meet "Coach" Ron
A well known community advocate for education, wellness, and the next generation, "Coach" Ron Chambers is recognized for his military career, engineering degree, and positive impact on the lives of others through his work, faith in God, and voluntary contributions.
Now he wants to take that background and put it to work for the voters and taxpayers of Ocean Springs, Mississippi. Our city seems adrift without any oversight and transparency of its processes and actions. But Ocean Springs doesn't need saving. Ocean Springs needs serving. Ocean Springs need direction, not division.
Join with "Coach" Ron Chambers in creating a new direction for Ocean Springs by voting for him in the April 1 Republican primary.
Bachelor of Science with a concentration in Electrical Engineering Technology, University of West Florida
Associate Degree in Electrical Engineering Technology, Pensacola Junior College
Certificate of Completion in Industrial Technology, George Stone Vocational School
After graduating high school living and working in Florida, Ron Chambers spent 8 years working as a member of the US Naval Reserve utilizing his technological background to maintain and manage critical communications systems while supporting operational readiness during active service.
While a member of the Reserves he continued his educational career in both junior college and college in electrical engineering technology. He also put that education to work and became a Senior Field Engineer with Gulf Power, now called Florida Power & Light. He designed distribution power systems, provided technical expertise, and acted as a liaison between the company and local community.
In 2004, Ron moved to Ocean Springs to become Supervisor of Wellness and Recreation for My Fitness and Nutrition Club, a position he holds to this day. Many members of the Ocean Springs community know him well as an organizer of personalized workout programs, and he provides nutritional consultations to help clients achieve their health goals.
Over the years Ron has taken on additional roles in our community, first by becoming a physical education teacher at St. Alphonos's School in Ocean Springs for four years. He worked to create dynamic physical education programs for the students, while coaching in various sports at the same time. He then was a fitness instructor with the Ocean Springs YMCA for four years, designing customized fitness plans while mentoring athletes to both improve their performance and reach their personal goals.
For the last six years Coach Ron has been developing and implementing tailored physical education programs to meet the unique needs of students with dyslexia at Lighthouse Academy right here in Ocean Springs. Along the way at all of these stops, Coach Ron has been both inspired by those that he has taught, and hopes that he has inspired his students as well. That is why the Mississippi Gulf Coast named him Trainer of the Year in 2019.
Ron also is proud to be associated with these other community organizations as well:
